Sara Romano

Ph.D. Candidate

Sara Romano is a Ph.D. student in Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Bari. She received her B.S. and M.S. degree both in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic of Bari, specifically M.S. degree with honors in Smart Industry course on 22/02/2022.

Her research topic wants to explore the well-being of operators in the industrial field in Virtual Environments. The approach she uses to improve well-being consists in Biophilic Design to be applied in environments. It’s based on the Biophilia hypothesis, which suggests that humans have an innate connection with nature that can influence positively their health and productivity. Her research project uses Virtual Reality (HTC Vive, Oculus Quest2) mainly, but she occupies also in user interface design and industrial task localization in Augmented Reality (Hololens2, mobile phone, tablet) since her topic uses Industrial Training as case study. Moreover, she has experiences in CAD modelling and 3D printing.
