Marina Ricci

Ph.D. | Member of VR3 Group

Marina Ricci received her B.A. and M.A. degrees with honors in Industrial Design at the Polytechnic University of Bari in 2018 and 2020. Currently, she is a third-year doctoral researcher in Industry 4.0 at the Polytechnic University of Bari and a member of the VR3Lab group. Her doctoral path covers and intertwines the areas of Interaction Design and Computer Science. She has been a Visiting Ph.D. Student at the Delft University of Technology where she worked at the Perceptual Intelligence Lab investigating the adoption of pseudo-haptic effects to convey fabrics psychophysical dimensions in an online shopping context. She also collaborates with the Games and Extended Reality Lab from the Massey University of Auckland since 2021 to investigate the impact of avatars on shopper behavior within virtual retail environments. She is currently an assistant for the Virtual Design and Simulation Course in Industrial Design master’s program in Bari, co-supervising students for their master’s thesis.  She was also a “Researcher in pink” in the field of Interaction Design within the project “Active participatory system for the awareness of communities to the risk of exposure to RADON gas” (call INNOLABS Regione Puglia 2017). Also, she was a Peer Reviewer for the Interaction Awards (IxDA) in 2021 and 2022. She was also involved in conference organizations such as IEEE International Symposium on Mixed and Augmented Reality (ISMAR) 2021 as a Support Staff member and the 11th International Conference Senses&Sensibility 2021 as Session Chair.

Since 2022, she is member of ADM: National Association of Drawing and Methods of Industrial Engineering. Since 2023, she is member of the Design Research Society (DRS) and part of the SIG Group of Designing Retail & Services Futures; she is also member of Italian Society of Design (SID).
