Lorenzo Santoro

RESEARCH FELLOW

Lorenzo Santoro is Research Fellow at the Department of Mechanics, Mathematics, and Management of the Polytechnic University of Bari. He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees with honors in Mechanical Engineering from Polytechnic University of Bari, and his Ph.D. degree in Mechanical and Management Engineering in April 2022 from the Polytechnic University of Bari.

Dr. Santoro’s research activity regards (i) nanoscale modeling and analysis of biological structures (especially mechano-transduction processes in cell mechanics and adhesion phenomena); (ii) geometric modeling of porous structures for biomedical and industrial applications; (iii) metaheuristic algorithms for structural optimization; (iv) design and simulation of mechanical behavior of porous lightweight structures built by additive manufacturing.
