Desirè Laviola

Ph.D Student in Mechanical and Energy Engineering | XXXX Cycle

Desirè Laviola received her bachelor's degree in Cultural Heritage Sciences and her master's degree in Art History in 2021 and 2023, respectively, at the University of Bari Aldo Moro. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Department of Mechanical and Energy Engineering, Polytechnic University of Bari. Her research explores the use of Extended Reality (XR) and Metaverse technologies for tourism and cultural heritage, focusing on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the development of new metaphors for content fruition. The project addresses technological innovation and high qualification needs defined by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), aiming for an advanced valorization of Italy's cultural heritage. The main objective is to combine XR technologies (augmented, virtual, and mixed reality) with AI to create immersive and personalized tourism experiences.
